About
The LabOceano Ocean Technology Laboratory is part of the Naval and Ocean Engineering Program at COPPE/UFRJ. And it has more than 200 projects concluded, standing out as an international reference in research and development.
With high end equipment and an infrastructure only found in a few laboratories around the world, LabOceano is able to provide services in experimental hydrodynamics, computational hydrodynamics and numerical modeling of naval and oceanic systems, in addition to the research and development projects and personal training.

Projects

Fatigue evaluation in FPSO lines in intermediate seas. 1:70 scale model

Research on methods of launching manifolds. 1:35 scale model

Performing maneuvers with ROV on the surface and bottom of the tank (depth of 15 m). The tests were performed with and without waves. 1:1 scale ROV.

Development of a technique for measuring waves through the analysis of videos and photos and studies of non-linear effects on regular waves.

Research on the dynamic behavior of the cold water tube (“CWP”) under specific oceanographic conditions. OTEC model in 1:50 scale.

Evaluation of the pile stability during its descent trajectory. 1:15 scale model.

Floating barrier tests as a wave absorber. 1:1 scale model

Analysis of stresses and radii of curvature of a stretch of flexible riser. 1:1 scale model.

Offshore converter by combining experimental tests in the laboratory with numerical modeling to evaluate the powers for different sea conditions along the Brazilian coast. 1:10 scale model
